Notre-Dame Hospital in Hearst, Ontario, is a leading healthcare facility committed to providing exceptional care and services to our community. With a dedicated team of 175 employees, we are currently seeking an experienced, strategic, and dynamic Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to join our leadership team. As the CHRO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing HR strategies that align with the hospital’s mission, values, and goals.
Position Overview:
The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the hospital’s human resources functions, including recruitment, talent development, performance management, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and organizational culture. This role will be part of the senior leadership team and will ensure that Notre-Dame Hospital attracts, retains, and supports the best healthcare talent while fostering a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive HR strategy that supports the hospital’s mission and goals, ensuring alignment with the hospital's long-term objectives.
• Talent Acquisition: Oversee and lead recruitment efforts to ensure the hospital attracts top-tier healthcare professionals and support staff, promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce.
• Employee Relations: Foster a positive and collaborative workplace culture, promoting employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Includes labor relations with local unions and all related activities.
• Compensation and Benefits: Manage compensation structures and employee benefit programs, ensuring they are competitive, equitable, and aligned with hospital objectives.
• Performance Management: Lead the development and execution of performance management programs that promote professional growth, continuous improvement, and high standards of care.
• Compliance and Legal: Ensure HR practices are compliant with relevant laws, regulations, and policies, and provide guidance on HR-related legal matters.
• Employee Development: Promote and oversee ongoing training, development, and succession planning to build a strong and adaptable workforce.
• Collaboration and Communication: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on HR issues, working closely with department heads to address organizational needs and resolve HR challenges.
Qualifications:
• Postsecondary diploma in human resources, business administration, commerce, industrial relations, or psychology with a specialization in HR.
• 5+ years of experience in HR with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.
• CHRP/CHRL designation would be an asset.
• Strong working knowledge of Ontario Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Pay Equity Act, WSIB and other relevant legislation.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities while paying attention to detail.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and effectively engage with staff at all levels.
• Bilingual, oral and written communication skills in both French and English.
• Ability to handle sensitive issues and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Knowledge of relevant computer systems and software.
